The Beginning

Hi there! It's nice to meet you! Let me tell you a little something about us so you know who we are and why we're here. I'm Vanessa, the writer, planner and novice photographer (I use that term loosely) for our little brand. My passion for travel is something I believe I was born with. From a very young age, I felt the need to get up and go. A need to see the unseen and find the unknown. I remember being a kid and listening to stories about where everyone vacationed with their parents during the summer, feeling so jealous that my family couldn't do the same... So when I was older and started making my own money, I told myself that I would listen to that feeling in my gut that told me to go out there and see the world. My travel journey has just begun, I've visited quite a few places in the U.S. and I've been lucky enough to set foot on 5 different countries. For a long time I believed I would have to take the journey alone...

Until Richie came along. When he and I first met (circa 2017) he had never traveled out of the U.S. and had no desperate longing to do so. His life prior to me (his words) was "work, gym, sleep, repeat." As our relationship deepened, we decided to take a trip together. We chose to do a cruise because it was something neither of us had done before. Needless to say, he caught the bug! Three years later, he's now visited parts of our home state he had never been to and has 4 countries under his belt! And he's the one who really got the ball rolling with our little brand! He is the videographer, drone flyer and editor for our YouTube channel.

Now that you know who we are, I'll tell you why we're here. For a couple of years now I've been watching YouTube vlogs as research for our trips. One day I was watching my favorite travel vloggers, Flying the Nest, and Richie said "Who are these people?" I explained to him who they were and my obsession with them and he began to watch the vlogs too. Then, out of the blue, he tells me "I think we can do this, we should start vlogging our travels!" Never in a million years did I think those words would come out of his mouth! Both he and I are introverts and avoid the limelight as much as we can. But here we are, 4 months later with a YouTube channel, Instagram page and now a blog. What?! It's crazy where life takes you sometimes, isn't it?

After some soul searching we set a goal and a timeline: within two years we are going to take a year off from work so that we can travel the world full time. And we're sharing the journey with all of you in hopes of inspiring YOU to chase YOUR dream. We want you to know that it doesn't matter your level of wealth (we're lower-middle class average Joe's), your age (we're in our thirties... unbelievable, I know!), or circumstances (we've both been through some stuff, trust me), YOUR dream is worth chasing! It may take a lot of time, a lot of planning and a lot of sacrifice but we think its gonna be worth it. It's time to stop simply existing and start living.
